Hotel Pool Resurfacing for Resort and Guest Pools
Hotel pool resurfacing from Aqua Creations replaces a rough, stained, or failing surface with AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass, applied by our own in-house crews. We review the health department steps with your team up front, so the closure dates are realistic before the pool is drained.

Courtyard poolWhat guests notice about a hotel pool
Guests judge a pool in seconds, usually from a lounge chair or a phone screen. The surface does most of that work, for better or worse.
Underfoot
Old plaster turns rough as it wears. Guests feel it on steps, benches, and the pool floor, and children feel it first on their toes and knees. AQUA-GLASS™ was developed with one goal: the most user-friendly, longest-lasting pool surface we could build.
In photos
Stains and blotchy color read as dirty water in a guest photo, even when the chemistry tests perfectly. A uniform, smooth white finish photographs as clean water, and county rules allow color on step edges and waterline tile.
At the edges
Chipped waterline tile and worn coping sit exactly where guests sit, lean, and climb out. Both can be replaced during the same closure, so the deck edge matches the new surface instead of dating it.
Two lanes run at once: your property and the county
A commercial pool cannot be drained and refinished on a slow weekend. Public pools in California answer to the local environmental health agency, usually the county, and resurfacing an operating pool is a reviewed project. Ventura County’s pool plan check application lists it as its own project type.
We walk the pool with your team, look at the shell, tile, coping, and drains, and give you a free estimate.
The application, plans, and fees come first. Ventura County will not let construction start until plans are approved and a Permit to Construct is issued. In Orange County, each body of water needs its own application.
Our crew resurfaces the pool with AQUA-GLASS™, our gun-laminated system; the fiberglass pool resurfacing page covers each stage.
Orange County holds a pre-plaster inspection, and drain covers must be on site for it. Scheduling that visit can take up to 10 working days.
The pool is refilled.
A final inspection follows the refill, and Orange County requires a written approval to operate before the pool returns to service.

A repeat client with commercial pools and spas
Here is what a commercial operator said after his projects.
As always had a great experience with this company. I have used them for all my commercial pools and spas.
What sets the cost and length of a hotel closure
We do not publish a price list, because two hotel pools of the same size can need very different work. These are the closure-specific things that move the number, and we go over each one at the free estimate.
How many bodies of water close
A pool alone is one project. Add a spa or a second pool and each one is a separate surface, and in Orange County a separate health department application.
What grinding uncovers
Loose or hollow plaster has to be cut out and repaired before the new surface goes on. The more of it there is, the more prep the closure needs.
Drain and rail work in the same window
A closure is the practical time to replace drain covers or add safety rails. See VGBA compliance and safety upgrades for what the federal drain cover law asks of public pools.
Inspection lead time
Pre-plaster and final inspections are scheduled by the health agency, not by us. In Orange County each can take up to 10 working days to schedule, which shapes how long the pool stays closed.
Running an apartment community, club, or more than one property? Our commercial pool resurfacing page covers the wider program, and you can compare every one of our pool resurfacing services.

How long will the hotel pool be closed?
It depends on the size of the pool, how much repair the shell needs, and how quickly the health agency can schedule inspections. In Orange County, for example, the pre-plaster and final inspections can each take up to 10 working days to schedule. We account for those inspection steps when we set the schedule at the estimate.
Do we need a permit to resurface a hotel pool?
Yes. Hotel and resort pools are public pools in California, and resurfacing one that is already operating is a project the local environmental health agency reviews, usually the county. The forms and fees differ from county to county, so we confirm the requirements for your property before the schedule is set.
Can the spa be resurfaced during the same closure?
Yes, and many properties do both at once. Keep in mind that health agencies treat each body of water separately; in Orange County, each one needs its own replaster application. Our spa resurfacing work uses the same AQUA-GLASS™ system as the pool.
Who actually does the work on our property?
Our own employees. Aqua Creations has never handed AQUA-GLASS™ work to a subcontractor, and many of our 25+ long-term employees have been with the company for years, working on pools across Southern California.
Get a closure plan before you book the dates
Tell us about the property, the number of pools and spas, and when you need the pool back. We will walk the pool, explain the options, and give you a free estimate with no obligation.
