Pool Resurfacing in Anaheim, CA, From the Resort District to Anaheim Hills
Aqua Creations handles pool resurfacing in Anaheim for hotels, apartment communities, and homeowners, with AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass applied by our own crews. Anaheim’s groundwater averages about 18 grains per gallon and its summers run hot, so the surface you choose has real work to do here.
Four figures that shape an Anaheim pool surface
Hotel and apartment pools run every day of the year
Hotels line the streets around the Anaheim Resort and the convention center, and apartment communities fill much of the rest of the city. Pools at properties like these see guests and residents nearly every day of the year.

As always had a great experience with this company. I have used them for all my commercial pools and spas.
Pool resurfacing in Anaheim, matched to the kind of property
Anaheim has resort hotels, large rental communities, and single-family neighborhoods from West Anaheim to the hills. Each one asks something different of the pool and the schedule.
Hotel and resort pools
For hotels near the resort district, where a closed pool shows up in guest reviews, ask us about timing at the free estimate.
Hotel pool resurfacing Rental communitiesApartment complex pools
For Anaheim apartment communities, a smooth finish that holds up to heavy use and hard fill water means fewer resident complaints about rough steps.
Apartment pool resurfacing BackyardsHomeowner pools
For backyards from West Anaheim to Anaheim Hills, AQUA-GLASS™ replaces tired plaster with a surface that stays smooth underfoot.
Residential pool resurfacingThe work and the people behind it

Drain, prep, finish, refill
Every resurfacing project moves through the same four phases, whether it is a hotel pool off Katella Avenue or a backyard pool in the hills.
Drain
The pool is emptied so the whole interior can be reached, with the discharge handled the way your city allows.
Prep
The old surface is opened up and any weak spots are dealt with, so the new finish bonds to something sound.
Finish
AQUA-GLASS™ goes on as gun-laminated fiberglass over a vinyl ester barrier coat, applied by our in-house crew.
Refill
The pool is refilled from your tap with Anaheim’s hard water. Test and balance the water before the first swim.
Draining rule of thumb for Anaheim: the countywide H2OC stormwater program says chlorine must be down to 0.1 mg/L before pool water goes to a landscaped area or storm drain, and some Orange County cities do not allow storm drain disposal at all. Many pools are plumbed to drain to the sewer instead.
Inland heat is the bigger enemy of an Anaheim pool
Anaheim sits far enough from the ocean that the marine layer gives way to real heat by midsummer. NOAA’s normals for the Anaheim weather station put the average high at 86.8°F in July, 88.8°F in August, and 87.8°F in September, with only about 13.5 inches of rain in a typical year.
That pattern means long stretches of warm water, strong sun on the interior, and little rain to dilute what evaporation leaves behind. Plaster, a cement product, takes all three hard.
Average monthly highs, NOAA U.S. Climate Normals, 1991 to 2020, Anaheim station. Orange bars are the three hottest months.
Warm water eats chlorine
From July through September the water stays warm for weeks. Sanitizer burns off faster, and rough plaster gives algae more places to hold on between service visits.
Evaporation leaves the minerals
Every top-off adds more of Anaheim’s hard water, and the calcium stays when the water evaporates. On plaster it settles in as a crusty line at the tile.
Sun wears the color
Strong summer sun on a shallow, light interior shows every blotch. Aging plaster turns patchy and chalky as its top layer wears away.
How hard is the water going into your Anaheim pool?
Anaheim’s tap water is a blend of local groundwater and imported water, and the city reports each source separately. Pick one, or type in a figure from your own test, to see it in grains per gallon and on the USGS hardness scale.
Anaheim sources, 2025 averages
Grains per gallon is mg/L divided by 17.1. The city’s 2025 readings ranged from 162 to 431 mg/L across all sources.
A 20,000-gallon fill at this level carries about 53 pounds of dissolved hardness minerals.
Scale bands: USGS, soft up to 60 mg/L, moderately hard 61 to 120, hard 121 to 180, very hard above 180. Source figures: Anaheim Public Utilities 2026 Water Quality Report.
From the flats west of the 5 to the hills along the 91
Anaheim stretches a long way east to west, from the older blocks of West Anaheim past the resort district and Angel Stadium area out to Anaheim Canyon and the hills above Santa Ana Canyon Road. Our crews also work in Fullerton to the north, Garden Grove to the southwest, and Santa Ana to the south. Every city we cover is on our Orange County page.

How each surface handles Anaheim water and heat
A plain comparison for Anaheim conditions. Cost depends on the pool, so we cover that at the free estimate instead of guessing here.
| For Anaheim | Plaster | AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass |
|---|---|---|
| Surface | Cement-based and porous, so water and minerals work into it | Non-porous fiberglass laminate bonded to the shell |
| Hard fill water | Calcium from water near 18 grains per gallon can lodge in the pores as scale | Scale sits on a smooth face, so it brushes off instead of growing in |
| Hot summer months | Warm water and drifting chemistry can etch the surface and roughen it | Not a cement product, so it does not etch the way plaster does |
| Busy commercial pools | Rough spots and stains show quickly under daily use | Smooth finish that stays easy to clean between service visits |
| Feel underfoot | Gets rougher on steps and benches as it ages | Smooth to the touch, kinder to feet and swimsuits |
