Pool Resurfacing in Culver City, CA

Aqua Creations does pool resurfacing in Culver City for backyard pools whose plaster has turned rough, chalky, or blotchy, and we replace it with an AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass finish. Our own crews make the drive down from Ventura for every job, and nobody else is handed the work.

Why Aqua Creations

Our crews leave a Ventura shop about 50 miles from Culver City

Every Culver City job starts at our shop at 1547 Los Angeles Avenue in Ventura. That is roughly 50 miles in a straight line from downtown Culver City.

The people who grind your old surface and lay up the new one are our own employees. We have never used subcontractors for AQUA-GLASS™ work, and that has held since 1991, when the company first brought this finish to Southern California. More than 7,000 projects later, the company still runs on the same idea: principle before profit.

The method is a gun-laminated fiberglass pool resurfacing system, sprayed with chopper guns over a vinyl ester barrier coat rather than rolled on by hand. Culver City is one of the towns on our Los Angeles County service area page, alongside the other towns we cover in the county.

In a customer’s words

I am very impressed with the workmanship of Aqua Creations. It is so good to know that there are still honest hardworking companies around and I am so fortunate to be found and hired by Aqua Creations.

Culver City climate

Mild winters, dry summers, and most of the rain in four months

These are NOAA NCEI monthly normals for the Culver City station, USC00042214. The pattern explains a lot about how a pool here wears and when the work fits best.

What the weather means for a resurface

From June through September the station averages well under a quarter inch of rain a month, and highs climb from about 75 degrees in June to 79 in August. That is steady evaporation, which means steady top-offs with hard tap water.

December through March brings about 11 of the year’s 14 inches. A resurface needs an empty, dry shell, so a wet stretch can move a start date by a few days. We talk through timing for your pool at the estimate.

What 12-grain tap water does to a plaster pool

Golden State Water’s Culver City system delivers treated water imported from the Colorado River Aqueduct and the State Water Project. Its 2026 report puts hardness between 137 and 280 mg/L, or about 8 to 16 grains per gallon, with an average near 12.

A pool loses water to evaporation all summer, and Culver City sees almost no rain from June through September. Each top-off adds more calcium, and the minerals stay behind when the water leaves. On plaster, a cement product, that shows up as scale at the waterline and as minerals settling into a surface that has turned porous with age.

AQUA-GLASS™ is fiberglass, not cement, so the water does not etch it the way it etches plaster. Scale can still form at the waterline on any finish, so keeping the water balanced matters either way. If your plaster already feels rough or keeps staining, our pool resurfacing page covers what those signs usually mean.

Condo and apartment pools

When a Culver City pool is shared, the county rules come into it

A pool at a condo complex or apartment building is a public pool, and Los Angeles County Public Health publishes plan approval requirements for work on public pools. These are the parts that touch a renovation.

Plans before work

Plans for work that renovates or replaces part of a public pool need written approval before the work starts.

A white interior

The county calls for white plaster or a smooth, waterproof, white finish, and asks for samples of a shell finish it has not approved before.

Two inspections

A pre-plaster inspection comes before the final surface goes on, booked at least five days ahead, and a final inspection with written approval comes before the pool reopens.
