Pool Resurfacing in Irvine, CA for Backyards and Village Associations
Aqua Creations handles pool resurfacing in Irvine, CA, from single backyard pools to the association pools that sit at the center of so many Irvine neighborhoods. Irvine Ranch Water District supplies the water, the Orange County Health Care Agency signs off on shared pools, and AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass is the finish we apply.

What Irvine boards and homeowners ask before a resurface
Most of the shared pools in Irvine belong to an association, and the Orange County Health Care Agency has a set process for resurfacing them. Here is how it works, in plain terms.
Yes. For a public pool, the Orange County Health Care Agency says a replaster needs an application, agency approval, and a scheduled inspection before work begins. Each body of water gets its own application, so a pool and its spa are two. The pool cannot reopen until Environmental Health Plan Check gives written approval to operate.
The county’s replaster page lists white plaster, fiberglass, or other approved finishes as acceptable. That puts AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass on the table for an Irvine community pool. The finish still goes through the plan checker with the application, so the board should confirm the finish there before it votes. Custom colors are for backyard pools.
The resurfacing work is one part of it. The county inspections are the other. There is a pre-plaster inspection before resurfacing and a final inspection after the pool is filled, and the agency notes it can take up to 10 working days for a plan checker to have an opening for each one. Ask for a schedule for your own pool at the estimate, and count those inspections in it.
It is on the hard side. Irvine Ranch Water District’s 2026 report, covering 2025 testing, puts its two local treated supplies at 12.5 and 17.1 grains per gallon on average, and imported water at 13.8. Every refill and every summer top-off adds more of that calcium. It settles into the pores of an aging plaster surface, while a smooth, non-porous fiberglass surface gives it far less to grip.
Tell us who handles gate access and any vendor paperwork the management company requires, and send it early so it is settled before the start date.

What a free estimate covers at an Irvine pool
One visit, no obligation. Whether it is a backyard pool or the pool a whole village shares, these are the things we go over with you.
The surface
Roughness, stains, scale, cracks, and any plaster that sounds hollow. Loose plaster has to be repaired before a new finish goes on, so it shapes the scope.
Tile, coping, and fittings
Waterline tile, coping, rails, and drain covers. On a shared pool the county sets rules for waterline and trim tile, so we look at those with that in mind.
Finish options
For a backyard pool, we go over AQUA-GLASS™ finish colors with you. Public pools follow the county’s approved finish list, so we do not offer custom colors on hotel, apartment, or HOA pools.
The closure window
Pool size, repairs, and inspections all move the schedule. We talk through when the pool can be down, and for a board, when residents need notice.

July through September average 85 to 87 degrees with almost no rain, and June through September together average less than a third of an inch. A new surface has to cure after it goes on, which is one reason start dates depend on the weather.
