Pool Resurfacing in San Luis Obispo County, From Paso Robles to the Five Cities
Aqua Creations handles pool resurfacing across San Luis Obispo County for homeowners, hotels, apartment owners, and HOA boards, with crews who drive up the 101 from our shop in Ventura. Every AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass finish is applied by our own in-house crews, never subcontractors.

Two ends of the county on one highway
Our crews come up the 101 from Ventura. Arroyo Grande and Pismo Beach sit side by side at the south end of the county, close to the Santa Barbara County line. Paso Robles is farther north on the same highway, past San Luis Obispo and over the Cuesta Grade.

Where we handle pool resurfacing in San Luis Obispo County
Our county list is short and spread out: one inland town and two near the beach. Each card carries the local detail that matters most for a pool there.
Paso Robles
The hot end of the county. The normal August high at the Paso Robles airport is 94°F, and city water from 19 wells and Lake Nacimiento averages 15.6 grains per gallon of hardness, so scale builds at the waterline faster here.
Paso Robles pool resurfacingPismo Beach
Marine air and mild summers, and the town where our AQUA-GLASS™ finish went into the resort lap pool at Dolphin Bay. Hotel pools here go through the county health permit before they reopen.
Pismo Beach pool resurfacingArroyo Grande
One of the cities that buys treated water from Lopez Lake through the county’s Zone 3 project. Delivered Lopez water averaged 330 ppm hardness, about 19 grains per gallon, which shapes how a new surface should be started up.
Arroyo Grande pool resurfacingOrcutt, Lompoc, and the Santa Ynez Valley towns are in Santa Barbara County, not San Luis Obispo County. Every county and town we cover is on one page.

The San Luis Obispo airport, between the city and the coast, has a normal August high of 79.3°F. The Paso Robles airport, about 30 miles north, sits at 94.0°F, and four months there average 88°F or more.
That inland heat drives evaporation all summer. The water leaves and the minerals stay, so every top-off adds a little more calcium, and rough spots and scale tend to show sooner on North County plaster. Near the coast the heat is milder, but winter is wetter: the San Luis Obispo station averages nearly 18 inches of rain a year, most of it from November through March, which is worth planning around when a pool has to sit empty.

Hard water at both ends of the county
The two main supplies behind our San Luis Obispo County towns both run hard. That does not rule out any finish, but it does decide what a fresh surface is filled with on day one.
Average hardness as delivered, range 242 to 368 ppm. About 19 grains per gallon.
The county treats Lopez Lake water for its Zone 3 contract agencies: the cities of Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach, and Grover Beach, plus Oceano and Avila Beach. Delivered water also averaged 440 mg/L of total dissolved solids.
Average hardness, range 8.2 to 28.7 grains per gallon. About 267 mg/L.
The city blends groundwater from 19 wells with surface water from Lake Nacimiento, so hardness moves around with the mix. Its latest annual report put total dissolved solids at an average of 424 ppm.
Whoever balances your pool should start from your own supplier’s report, not a generic chart, and keep an eye on the waterline, where hard-water scale shows first. One part per million equals one milligram per liter; 17.1 of them make one grain per gallon.

Commercial pool resurfacing in San Luis Obispo County runs through Environmental Health
A public pool in this county operates under a health permit from the County of San Luis Obispo Health Agency, Environmental Health Services. The county asks operators planning a construction or remodel to read its construction and renovation requirements before work goes ahead, and it inspects a pool before it opens for business.
That matters for commercial pool resurfacing because the paperwork and the inspection set the reopening date as much as the crew does. The county’s resurfacing form calls for a white finish on public pools, so hotels, apartments, and HOAs get AQUA-GLASS™ in white. While the pool is empty is also the time to look at drain covers and other VGBA compliance upgrades.

A resort pool in Pismo Beach, and the same system for backyards
The lap pool at Dolphin Bay in Pismo Beach carries our AQUA-GLASS™ finish, gun-laminated over a vinyl ester barrier coat the way we do every fiberglass pool resurfacing job. Homeowners get that same system through our residential pool resurfacing work.
Extremely pleased with the final results! Everyone we worked with on the job was knowledgeable and professional, from Ole in sales, Eric with every answer to our questions… Awesome job from all. Won’t hesitate to recommend it to you.

Both supplies are hard: delivered Lopez water averaged 330 ppm, and Paso Robles city water averages 15.6 grains per gallon. Hard water does not rule out pool resurfacing in San Luis Obispo County, but it does mean the start-up chemistry should be built from your supplier’s numbers.
