Commercial Pool Resurfacing for Hotels, Apartments, HOAs, and Clubs

Commercial pool resurfacing from Aqua Creations puts an AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass surface on pools that see heavy use, applied by our own crews, never subcontractors. Since 1991 we have resurfaced pools for resorts, apartment complexes, community associations, schools, and athletic clubs.

What a closure costs depends on the property

Pick your property. The pressure points change with the business behind the pool.

Hotels and resorts Apartment complexes HOAs and community pools Clubs, schools, and fitness

Every day the pool is drained shows up in guest reviews.

A closed hotel or resort pool is felt at the front desk and in reviews. Tell us which dates the property can spare, and whether the spas should be resurfaced with the pool so guests lose access once instead of twice.

Residents notice a closed pool right away.

At an apartment property, residents notice a rough floor and stained steps long before the closure, and the pool is part of what prospects see on a tour. Bring your notice period and leasing dates to the assessment.

A board has to vote on it and explain it to owners.

Association pools are funded from reserves and approved by a board. The assessment gives the board a clear picture of what is wrong and what the work involves, ideally in time to reopen before the swim season.

Lap pools run on lane schedules and programs.

Athletic clubs, swim schools, and campuses book their pools by lane and by program, and we review the county’s lane line and depth marker rules with you before the finish goes on.

A commercial finish is built to the health code first

A pool at a hotel, apartment building, or association is a public pool, and the county inspects it. Ventura County Environmental Health, for one, asks for a plan check worksheet and a Permit to Construct before a public pool is resurfaced or altered. Its worksheet sets out what the new surface has to include:

  1. A white interior finishWhite plaster, fiberglass, or another approved material. Color is allowed only on items such as step edges, lane lines, and waterline tile.
  2. Contrasting tile where it mattersContrasting waterline tile, plus a 4 to 6 inch line of slip-resistant contrasting tile across the floor at 4.5 feet of depth.
  3. Depth markersFour-inch numerals at the ends, at maximum and minimum depth, and no more than 25 feet apart around the perimeter.
  4. Safe edges and drainsRounded, slip-resistant coping edges with a 1 to 2 inch overhang, and drain covers that meet ANSI/APSP-16-2011.

One contractor, one closure

Everything that turns up while the pool is empty

Draining a commercial pool is the costly part. Once the old surface comes off, other problems show, and our crews handle them in the same project instead of sending you to another trade and a second closure.

AQUA-GLASS™ resurfacing

The main surface, finished in white as county rules require for public pools.

Crack and surface repair

Structural cracks, hollow plaster, and damaged areas repaired before the new surface goes on.

Waterline tile and coping

Natural stone or precast coping and new waterline tile, done in the same closure.

Pool plumbing repairs

Leaks and failing lines found once the pool is empty, fixed before refill.

VGBA drain compliance

Anti-entrapment drain covers and suction outlets brought up to the federal standard.

Safety rails

Handrails and grab rails for steps, ladders, and spa entries.

Every item on this list is done by Aqua Creations, so there is one contractor to call about the pool.

Questions

Commercial pool resurfacing questions

What facilities directors, general managers, and property managers ask before they schedule a closure.

How long does commercial pool resurfacing take?

Most commercial pool resurfacing projects are completed within one to two weeks, depending on pool size and condition. Tell us at the assessment which dates the property can close.

Can you handle a property with several pools and spas?

Yes. Resorts, hotels, and campuses often have more than one swimming area or spa, and they are regular work for our crews. Tell us which pools and spas you want quoted.

Is a fiberglass finish accepted on a public pool?

Ventura County’s plan check worksheet for resurfacing a public pool lists fiberglass as an accepted interior finish alongside white plaster, and requires the finish to be white apart from items like step edges, lane lines, and waterline tile. AQUA-GLASS™ is available in white for commercial pools, and we review your county’s rules during the assessment.

Does fiberglass hold up to heavy chemical loads?

Commercial pools carry heavier bather loads and chemical demand than backyard pools, and the AQUA-GLASS™ laminate is a smooth, non-porous surface built for that use. Balanced water chemistry still matters for any finish.

Do you take on commercial pools outside Ventura County?

Yes. From our Ventura shop, our crews handle commercial pool resurfacing across Southern California and the Central Coast, from coastal resorts that face salt air to inland properties that run hot and heavy on chemicals.
