Pool Resurfacing in Simi Valley, CA, for Pools That Live in the Heat

Pool resurfacing in Simi Valley has to stand up to inland heat and two different water suppliers. Aqua Creations handles backyard, spa, HOA, and apartment pools with AQUA-GLASS™ fiberglass applied by our own crews, about 33 miles by road from our Ventura shop.

Long, dry summers and a short rainy season

NOAA has no temperature normals for a station inside Simi Valley. The nearest one is Northridge Cal State, about 15 miles east over the Santa Susana Pass, and its 1991 to 2020 normals show the inland pattern: heat builds from June, peaks in August, and nearly all the rain falls between November and March.

What the calendar means for your project

A resurface happens in an empty, open pool, so weather is part of every schedule. The wet months run from December through March, and from May through September the normals show less than half an inch of rain a month.

Summer has its own effect after the refill. Warm water burns through chlorine faster, and the chemistry needs closer watching for the first weeks.

Ask about timing for your pool when you call.

Check your own water

Which water fills your Simi Valley pool?

Simi Valley homes get tap water from one of two providers: Ventura County Waterworks District No. 8, run by the City, or Golden State Water. Pick yours, or type the hardness from your own report, to see it in grains per gallon.

City of Simi Valley and District 8, 2024 report: water from Metropolitan’s Jensen plant made up 98% of supply and averaged 148 mg/L, with a range of 143 to 153.

Calcium at these levels settles out as a white crust at the waterline and in the pores of etched plaster. A smooth fiberglass face gives scale less to grip, though the water still needs balancing on any finish.

Inland surface conditions

What a hot inland valley does to a pool interior

Simi Valley sits well back from the coast, and the nearest NOAA normals show it: highs around 90°F from July through September and almost no summer rain. A pool here spends months in strong sun with warm water, which is when chlorine demand climbs and water chemistry swings the most.

On a plaster pool, those swings slowly dissolve the cement surface. It turns rough on the steps first, then starts to hold stains and scale from the calcium in the fill water.

AQUA-GLASS™ is fiberglass, not a cement product, so balanced water does not etch it the way it etches plaster. It is a gun-laminated finish, explained on our fiberglass pool resurfacing page. If your pool is plaster today, plaster pool resurfacing shows what comes off and what stays.

Shared and commercial pools

HOA, apartment, and hotel pools in Simi Valley

Simi Valley has many association, apartment, and condominium pools, along with hotel pools. If you look after one of them, the resurface involves the county as well as you and us.

Simi Valley is covered by the Recreational Health program of the Ventura County Environmental Health Division. The program treats pools at HOAs, condominiums, hotels, and apartments as public pools, along with any pool that serves more than three families. Resurfacing one starts with a plan check worksheet and an Application for Permit to Construct, and the work waits for written approval.

Public pools follow the health agency’s approved finish rules, so we do not offer custom colors on hotel, apartment, or HOA pools. Board members can read more on HOA pool resurfacing.

Simi Valley questions

Simi Valley questions about water and timing

Short answers on distance, suppliers, and the time of year.

Next door, we also work in Moorpark and Thousand Oaks, and across Ventura County.

About 33 miles by road from our shop on Los Angeles Avenue in Ventura. The estimate for pool resurfacing in Simi Valley is free and carries no obligation, and the office answers (805) 672-1695 Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.

It changes the numbers, not the work. The City of Simi Valley and District 8 report put the main supply at about 8.7 grains per gallon in 2024, and Golden State Water reports an average near 12 with a wider range. Harder water leaves more scale, so it is worth knowing which report applies to your street.

Not by itself. Summer is the driest part of the year here, which suits work in an open, empty pool, but it is also when most families want to swim. Winter rain is more likely to move a start date, so ask about timing when you call.

One fiberglass resurface, in the owner’s own words

Tim Reigel had his pool resurfaced with our fiberglass process and wrote about it on Google. We share it as written.

Our pool was resurfaced with Aqua Creations fiberglass process. Kyle, Eric and the whole crew were great. Emptied the pool on Monday and they finished on Friday. Pool is beautiful. Highly recommend.
