In 1991, Richard Dietz Sr., the founder and president of Aqua Creations, introduced Aqua-Glass™ fiberglass resurfacing to the Southern California market. His goal was to develop the most user-friendly, longest-lasting swimming pool surface. With the help of chemists and chemical engineers and his 50+ years of experience working with fiberglass laminates, he set out to offer a viable fiberglass alternative.

Our team has risen to the top of the Southern California market by introducing a longer-lasting, corrosion-resistant pool surface available in various custom colors. From 1996 through 2008, we were the only fiberglass resurfacing company to win the Best Alternative Surfacing award at the Western Pool & Spa Show, one of the largest industry expos in the United States.

The Fiberglass Story

Fiberglass resurfacing is an evolving technology that has been used in the swimming pool industry for almost 50 years. Many companies have taken a simplistic approach to preparing and applying fiberglass linings, often leading to poor results. Traditional methods involve rolling on materials with using buckets and paint rollers, resulting in poor preparation, failure of the bond between the old and new surfaces, and improperly cured finishes.

The Aqua Creations Difference

We have addressed these issues with a comprehensive approach to preparation. We begin by laminating a pool only after disk-grinding the surface and preparing all loose or hollow plaster areas. Our bonding barrier coating, introduced in 1994, consists of an unfilled, non-pigmented vinyl ester barrier coat applied directly to the substrate, ensuring the best chemical adhesion and durability.

Technologically Superior

We use advanced fiberglass chopper guns to apply about 30% more material, adding structural strength. The thicker finish coat achieved with gun lamination provides a superior water-tight barrier. Our highly trained professionals ensure superior results, and we never use sub-contractors for our Aqua-Glass resurfacing, guaranteeing consistent quality.

As the exclusive installer of Aqua-Glass™ fiberglass coatings, we understand the polymer composite matrix and environmental factors, allowing us to deliver the most durable, longest-lasting pool surface in the industry. Our materials are pH stable, mixed to a high shear consistency, and tested for cure upon completion.

Breaking the Color Barrier

We offer various custom colors, addressing common issues like fading by adjusting the surfacing agent and catalyst ratio and controlling the surface temperature to ensure a uniform, fully cured finish.
